Great-Grandpa's House in the Woods

This past weekend, we went to Byron's Grandpa Waldron's house in Arkansas. He lives in a beautiful town in the middle of the Ozarks. Needless to say, there are a lot of trees--these of which we don't have much of here. My kids were in heaven. Even though it was not any warmer than 50 degrees, they stayed outside for hours playing in "the woods". They climbed trees, stacked rocks, stacked branches and sticks, and played swords. Brynna came inside after a day of adventure and told her daddy, "Daddy...we need to get some woods". I wish it was that easy to just get some woods.

It was cool to have Byron's mom and dad there too. Grandpa Waldron is Byron's mom's father and we were able to take four generation photos of each of the kids with their dad, grandma, and great-grandpa. That doesn't happen very often--what a great opportunity.

We loved just spending time with everyone. We watched football, watched movies, ate great food that Anna made (she did a great job cooking for 8 extra people), played in "the woods", and Grandpa taught the kids to play chicken-foot. I pray that my kids will lock this weekend away in their memories and remember how cool their great-grandpa is and the adventures they had. And..I hope they remember how much their grandpa love's them.

Brynna- I agree, woods are great and we should all get some! However, in horror movies, not so great. Anyway, Tammy, love the photos...you're a pro. Glad you guys were able to create a great memory with grandpa and family. Nothing beats that!

I remember when we would take the kids to Buhl Idaho every year for the 4th of July. Their great grand dad lived on a 5 acre ranch/farm. He traded cattle in the day and had a lot of stables. The kids loved going there. They could run and play forever, and would love to pet the horses across the dirt road. It will be a good memory for your kids.

Good blog...yeah, woods=greatness. And it's such a cool thing that the kids could meet and hang with great-granparents. That's one of my regrets in coming so late (because I was totally in control of that)-the fact that my kids won't know great-grandparents, or even some of their own grandparents. Anyway, looked like lots o' fun. Oh yeah, and no, no Sharpie-stabbing (what, you didn't like all my self-deprecation in that last blog?!), and we DID go ahead and bite the bullet on that Kaplan online course. Life will suck if I get denied admission again, but hopefully that won't be a problem. The most burdensome issue will be my GPA. Anyway, we'll keep you guys up-to-date. Sorry for the long comment, which just gets longer as I apologize for the length of the long comment. Bye.

I'm with Sariah - LOVE the first pic - really good!
And to respond to your question about my cool pond pics... I didn't do anything to them, I just rotated them to look at them upside down

We have "woods" in our backyard, and when we first moved out here, I would spend hours out there "exploring", obvisoly ive grown out of that, but Ben and Grant are always outside doing something out there, if you ask them they'd say its cause we have a strict no gamign system rule, but they really do love it.
